As a child, Lisa had the luxury of having a fantastical relationship with the ocean. She loved mermaids and sea life, and while the other girls wanted a pony, she had her heart set on getting her very own ship one day. She would stand on the docks near the boardwalk and watch her father sail off into the great unknown in a factory ship every spring and summer. He would be gone for four to six weeks, and then return with stories of one-eyed pirates and magical dolphins, tales that would feed her ever-growing curiosity and desire to set sail. He was a good father, a kind father, which made the decision for her to stay instead of going away to college all the easier when he fell ill.

Lisa is about to set sail on one last run before the end of the season, but there is a strange storm brewing, and the waters are angry.

Meet the Author

Darren Sparks is a pseudonym Devin Hunter uses when he writes fiction.

Devin (Darren) is both a bestselling non-fiction spiritual author and the lead dyer for Hella Good Yarn. In addition to his writing, Devin’s art has been published in multiple books and websites. He is a Cosmo and AV Club favorited podcast host, and he has been featured by both the AP and on ABC’s To Tell The Truth. When he isn’t writing or dyeing yarn, you can find him teaching workshops around the country, knitting something he probably won’t wear, or working with his favorite non-profit organization.
